Elam's in Raleigh, NC

This little stream was between my house and the school.  I used to walk by it every day.  To a first grader, it seemed like a big deal and we used to catch crawdads in the creek, even though I wasn't allowed next to it.  Now, I have to tell you that it looks like urban sprawl has filled this in a bit:  it looked a lot taller and bigger when I was little!
